The need for security
Security means Protecting anything from the attempts that causes harm or danger.
i.Basic Concepts:
In order to protect the data from different types of threats.
a.Authentication Of user:
System users are given the facility of protecting the data or information from unauthorized
users,at the same time allowing legitimate users to access the data by using user id and
password.
b.Encoding the Information:
Users can secure their data by encoding the information. This is possible by allotting patterns or
security codes so as to make it accessible only by the authorized person.
ii.Modern Nature of Attacks:
a.Automating Attacks:
An automated attack or threat is one that uses sophisticated tools like bots to maliciously
perform large amounts of repetitive tasks like password spraying with hardly any cost. For
instance, an automated attack can utilize malicious bots to exploit vulnerabilities in your web
application.
Eg: Credential stuffing relies on the idea that many users typically reuse their passwords. It
involves testing already compromised login credentials like username/password pairs obtained
from another data breach.
1.Traditional attack:
It produce coins using some machinery and bring them into circulation
Eg: Use of CAPTCHA: Introduce CAPTCHAs after a few failed attempts to distinguish
between bots and humans..
2.Modern Attack:
Steal half a dollar from million accounts into a few minutes time digitally.
3.Privacy concerns:
Collecting information about people and later(mis) using it is turning out to
be a huge problem, these days.In data mining gather, process and tabulate all sorts of details and
individuals(Eg:Shopkeepers,banks,airlines,insures).
